The article was certainly biased against Southern in a highly non-encyclopaedic way. I've tweaked it about somewhat. RobinCarmody, 04.45 BST, 10 October 2006

Updating Television South

[edit]

I began updating the article on Television South in December 2006 and uploaded the first draft at the end of January. I note that I have trod on some toes, but felt that the artcile did need to be divided into sections which has now been completed.

Further work is needed as it still does not reference all of it's scources but I feel it is nearly there. I am also contemplating removing the listing for the final days programming. I do not feel that information is really of relevance hereThe Jive Master 16:24, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Updates to Television South

[edit]

I have noted that text has been added to the section on the Maidstone Studios on history of the studios and programme production following the sale of the facility. This information is not of relevance for the history of TVS and has been removed and inserted into the article on the Maidstone Studios

I felt that the section I originally included on People was weak in comparison to the other sections and the text has now been reloacted into other sections and the People section removed. The Jive Master 09:46, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article has some good potential, but is in desperate need of inline citations. I'd put that high on your list of ways to improve it. The JPStalk to me 09:50, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:TVS Last logo.PNG

[edit]

Image:TVS Last logo.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Clean up

[edit]

The page will be revised shortly to deal with outstanding problems and missing ref, grammar.--Crazyseiko (talk) 15:33, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:‎Murgatroyd49 has been removing italics from programme titles on the grounds of "consistency". Italics are used for titles on WP, but the MOS page just cited says nothing about company names being so rendered, presumably the reason for a perceived inconsistency on the part of Murgatroyd49. The previous italics should be restored. Philip Cross (talk) 12:07, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Trolling idiot

[edit]

I have just reversed - I hope - all the edits added by whichever troll it was who is immediately messing about with this article again now that it is allowed to do so (putting in false dates, references to "1940" and other spam). Can we please get this article semi-protected for a long period, say at least a year? It is obvious that whoever it is wants to post that drivel and, if they want to distort information in such a way, then longer periods of semi-protection should, in my view, be obligatory. Vandalism happily is nowhere near what it was in the 2000s - re-editing this piece, I had unhealthy flashbacks to the days when The View and The Twang were actually popular. Completely agree Murgatroyd49 (talk) 09:54, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Region map

[edit]

There is a slight inaccuracy in the regional map. TVS technically covered part of South Essex around Southend and Canvey Island from the Bluebell Hill transmitter. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 12:54, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The map is intended to show only the officially recognised franchise areas and not any transmitter coverage overlap between adjacent regions. The maps I've consulted do indeed show the Bluebell Hill signal reaching Southend and Canvey Island, but they also show the Anglia signal from Sudbury and/or the Thames/LWT signal from Crystal Palace reaching these areas too. Do you have any maps showing official franchise areas (as opposed to transmitter coverage) to show Southend and Canvey Island in the TVS area?
I think in the future I might produce new versions of the maps showing transmitter coverage overlap in a pale pink colour, but that will take some time to sort out. -- Dr Greg  talk  15:09, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I got rid of things like TX maps when I moved house a while back. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 16:54, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Portacabins

[edit]

There are persistent stories that Meridian used the same portacabins as TVS had on their franchise take-over. Given that, over the years, TVS had added more portacabins to the site for extra accomodation, I'm not sure this story holds up. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 09:31, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
