Changed title
[edit]I changed the top line (the "title" of the table) to link directly to the article, which is now Provinces of Japan (formerly Old provinces of Japan) and to display "former" in place of "old."
Regions in alphabetic order
[edit]The sequence in which regions are presented in this template was discussed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan#Template:Japan Old Province. Thread contributors evaluated alphabetical ordering vs. traditional historical/geographic ordering. The argument for alphabetic order as a default is embodied in the version below:

Province / domain / prefecture
[edit]according to the source, "Japan's former provinces were converted into prefectures by the Meiji government[...]".
However, the 廃藩置県 "domains abolition and prefectures creation" law only abolished feudal domains (hence the name), but nothing were done after that time about the provinces. This makes, legally, the provinces still existing today, obsolete though. Then, it makes the source, well... removable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.149.95.200 (talk) 13:33, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
