tenor clef??

[edit]

The range of the tuba in the infobox is given in bass and tenor clefs. Does this make sense? Is the tenor clef used for the tuba in ANY circumstance? -- megA (talk) 06:24, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced contention seems to be misleading

[edit]

An anon recently replaced

Most professionals in the U.S. play CC tubas, with BB also common, and many train in the use of all four pitches of tubas.

with

Many professionals in the U.S. play CC tubas, with BB♭ also common, and many train in the use of all four pitches of tubas.

Diff

The professionals that I have known played more than one, including both C and B♭ tubas.
While I believe either of the statements in the article are true, I think they are misleading.

Photos

[edit]

There has been a bit of back-and-forth on photos between TubaPlayers.USA, Special-T and MrOllie at least, and I am pinging Just plain Bill as another interested party. Can we please discuss this and reach consensus on which photo(s) to use? I hate to see it bouncing around and I am not sure that TubaPlayers.USA is aware of how consensus operates here ... it would be much much better to agree it here than to risk edit-warring over it. Thanks and best to all DBaK (talk) 10:47, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

They're a vandal. There's no way we're going to reach consensus to include vandalism. MrOllie (talk) 12:06, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, we can and should look at their contributions, thanks. Agreed that their first-ever edit was pure childish crap, yes. But are the next three GF efforts? They do not look like vandalism – well, let's be honest, they are not: they do not meet the definition. So that's not quite it. But I am happy to see that you reverted them to an image which I personally found better. Maybe they will get the message, or come here to discuss it, or go away. But I do think that if they can at least discuss it sensibly here and not edit-war then they should get the chance to state their case. Best wishes to all DBaK (talk) 12:22, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Update: they are currently indeffed for the username. It will be interesting to see whether they come back with a new name and serious discussion in mind ... cheers DBaK (talk) 13:33, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
