Hello! I am proposing that we merge the page Order of the Phoenix (fictional organisation) into this page. The Order page has no real-world context, which is required for all pages. There is no discussion of Rowling's creation of the Order, the reception of it in the real world, or its cultural impact. I have searched for reliable sources that would provide this real-world context, but have found very little. The one source I did find is in the Further Reading section.
If we do find additional sources to provide some commentary and context on the Order, I would say they could be included on this page or in Politics of Harry Potter. I'm struggling to see a reason that the Order needs its own page. I redirected the Order page recently to this page, but the redirect was reverted with the argument that it needed discussion.
The Order page currently contains a massive amount of in-universe description and very long character descriptions. For characters that don't have their own page, I already condensed the descriptions from the Order page and put them on the page List of Harry Potter characters. According to MOS:IN-U, fictional elements should not be described in the way (and with the detail) that the Order is described on its page, so my suggestion is that almost all of the content on the Order page can simply be deleted. Since the Order is referenced and linked on quite a few pages, I think it's better that we do a redirect than a hard delete.
Oppose: this article is a result of a massive process of mergers of non-notable characters in the past. The list of characters is already large, and there are some sections such as Molly Weasley's which have some real world content. LoЯd۞pεth19:34, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose: The Order of the Phoenix is present in other books.
