- Click on the Edit button on a page, and look at how other editors did what they did.
- You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Always sign comments on Talk pages, never sign Articles.
- You might want to add yourself to the New User Log

This is a bit late, I'm afraid, so you'll probably know all the above — but better a late welcome than none at all. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:07, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Pinyin typography
[edit]Hello, I just saw your edit regarding the "a" with/without upper hook on the Pinyin article. I was just able to figure out how to view the large characters in parentheses near the end of the article (I had to download Netscape, as IE was unable to show them; all I got were empty boxes) and I see that they are all "a" without hook. What do you think about changing or removing these, as they seem unnecessary? Badagnani 20:31, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for writing--I think I'll leave deleting the funny-looking "a"s to you, as I'm not a specialist in Chinese language and don't want to risk getting yelled at if there isn't consensus they should be removed. I wasn't thinking of deleting any other symbols so I'm not sure which ones you are referring to. Badagnani 07:55, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
External links
[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Taibeiren. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Taibeiren~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
