Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alexander Graham Bell, Public School
This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion of the article below. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record.
The result of the debate was ambiguous.
The decision was an overwhelming vote to delete the original version of the article. There were 5 credible votes to keep the rewritten article. There were, however, a supermajority of users who clearly voted to delete even after the rewrite. In addition, some of the users who voted delete early in the discussion have a strong history of returning to similar discussions and updating their votes as new evidence is presented. The fact that they chose not to change their votes is, I believe, indicative of an intent to vote to delete even the rewritten article. I conclude that there is a consensus to delete this article. Besides having an extraneous comma in the title, only the first half of the first sentence is even vaguely encyclopedic. Article does not establish notability. Delete. RickK 23:11, Jan 16, 2005 (UTC)
- Note: Extraneous comma has been fixed. --Andylkl 09:04, Jan 18, 2005 (UTC)
- This article is very informative and uses seemingly veritable facts. Keep. Thebest055 23:38, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Vanity and nonsense. foobaz·✐ 01:21, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Delete - student vanity, not school article. -- Cyrius|✎ 01:32, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)- As much as we 'should admire' Prateek Gupta's achievements Wikipedia is not a vehicle for vanity - Delete. - Greaser 01:33, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Delete for many reasons, primarily non-notability. It boggles the mind that anyone would imagine such nonsense would be kept. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 01:35, Jan 17, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Note: THIS IS NOT A SCHOOL ARTICLE. The title of this article should be Prateek Gupta. It is arguably a speedy delete as a newbie test, but in any case is deletable as vanity and autobiography. If Thebest055 is in fact Mr. Gupta, some of this would be suitable for his user page. Repeat: THIS IS NOT A SCHOOL ARTICLE. Dpbsmith (talk) 02:02, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- It's okay. I'm sure not even inclusionists vote without reading the article, Dpb. Delete vanity. Dr Zen 05:14, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Maybe an article should be written on the kid though? Spinboy 06:42, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I really hope you're joking... Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 11:49, Jan 17, 2005 (UTC)
- No encyclopedic content. Delete. - Mike Rosoft 10:33, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- The article has been edited, but it is still a substub. Unless improved, my vote remains a weak delete. - Mike Rosoft 16:30, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)
STRONG KEEP - this is an important record of one of Canada's most significant educational institutions and... oh, who am I kidding? Delete this juvenile piece of cr*p. Quickly. Please. Kevintoronto 19:50, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)- Well now it's not so bad. Might as well keep it. Kevintoronto 20:55, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Delete - Haha, kevin had me going there... but this is clearly just a dumb article Sasquatch 07:26, Jan 18, 2005 (UTC)
- Even with the updates, i doubt notability and hence retain this vote as delete --Sasquatch 23:35, Jan 18, 2005 (UTC)
- Keep. It's no more a vanity page, I turned it into a school stub. =) --Andylkl 09:02, Jan 18, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete the non-notable school stub as well. --G Rutter 14:44, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Keep now with Andylkl's redo of this article. GRider\talk 17:04, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Keep now that it is a school stub. Samaritan 19:10, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. —Ben Brockert (42) 00:28, Jan 19, 2005 (UTC)
- School. Nuff said. Keep. --Centauri 02:17, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Delete. Well, if we have this article, we might as well article the ten closest schools to me, and the ten closest schools to everyone else, and we can have a Wiki-School-Palooza!I'm sorry. I was wrong on Delete. Now that I think about it, Speedy Delete. --WikiFan04 02:33, 20 Jan 2005 (CST)- The article doesn't meet the requirements for speedy deletion. But keep in mind that there's a WikiProject Schools in Wikipedia, you can mock them in their talk page. --Andylkl 09:53, Jan 20, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Gamaliel 05:59, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- BEEFSTEW score of one-ish. Delete - almost no content, and I see little potential for expansion. -- Cyrius|✎ 06:33, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Article fails to establish notability. Indrian 20:11, Jan 21, 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. Schoolcruft Canada. Edeans 00:09, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)
