Steve Powell

is a husband, father of two daughters, and a software engineer who used to walk to work in IBM UK Laboratories, based in a village in Hampshire called Hursley. He now works for another company in Chilworth, but still lives in Hursley and drives the 5 miles to work each day.

He was born in 1953, obtained a(n improper?) double first degree in Mathematics in 1975 and a MSc in Software Engineering in 2003. He still mourns the passing of Spike Milligan.

He enjoys walking, recreational mathematics and what he can remember of his degree, and is attracted to Wikipedia by the mathematical proofs therein. He also sings tenor in a West gallery music choir which gives concerts in and around Hampshire throughout the year.
