In the event, 1724 - Russia and Turkey sign Treaty of Constantinople, the link to Treaty of Constantinople doesn't correspond to the event. Should we rename the link? -- Jung dalglish 05:37, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

What Government?

[edit]

I'm just about to remove an entry that reads:

The Liberal minority Government survives passing its NDP additions (C-48) to its 2005 Budget (C-43), by catching the conservatives off guard with missing members. A vote on C-43 the following week would have likely been defeated and triggered an election.

The reason for this is that it contains no information about what country this is about. I have no idea what this entry even means because of a basic lack of context. Also, it doesn't actually appear to be that important in the grand scheme of things. If it actually triggered a general election for some country then maybe it would have been worth keeping. --Colin Angus Mackay 22:39, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hariet the tortoise

Just thought someone might create the article about her: [1] . Wikipedian231 16:12, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alan Turing centenary

[edit]

Is it to late to propose Alan Turing on the centenary of his birth?

1912 - Alan Turing widely considered to be the father of computer science and artificial intelligence was born. Richerman (talk) 14:01, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Which would be fine: except this is the talk page for the 23rd June! Cuddy2977 (talk) 19:15, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Secret Service

[edit]

I’ve taken down the entry that told us the US Secret Service had been created by Congress on this day in 1860: as it was directly contradicted by the relevant Wikipedia entry[1], and the Secret Service’s own history page[2]. Cuddy2977 (talk) 19:13, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can I just say that the entire page is skewed (as is common on Wiki) to a US perspective. "1848 – Beginning of the June Days Uprising in Paris, France." - Oh the one in France? Thanks. "1926 – The College Board administers the first SAT exam." - what country what that, I wonder? You're not the centre of the universe, please stop assuming the 'standard' wiki reader is American. 151.224.102.18 (talk) 13:06, 20 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I want to add Armen Sarkissian, the president of Armenia, who was born on this date in 1953. Quintessence62 (talk) 00:14, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: Hi User:Quintessence62, could you provide a source for that content, please? aboideautalk 01:09, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Armen Sarkissian's Wikipedia page. If it's wrong, then there's something else we need to edit. Quintessence62 (talk) 04:04, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Quintessence62: Wikipedia pages aren't quite enough (see Wikipedia:Days_of_the_year#Direct_citations), but whatever's supporting that fact in his Wikipedia article should work, if you could find that? aboideautalk 14:17, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There's no source on the article, but I found https://armenpress.am/eng/news/938632.html, which says so. Quintessence62 (talk) 23:47, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
