Liberal conservatism

[edit]

The National party’s main ideology is liberal conservatism. This needs to be the main ideology of the National party on the Wikipedia page of the National party. 125.236.143.212 (talk) 13:54, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The existing ideology has a high-quality source. What is your source?-gadfium 19:25, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

National Party being against use of Maori words?

[edit]

The main intro lists the National Party as "New Zealand National Party Rōpū Nāhinara o Aotearoa"

Luxon has come out publicly that he dislikes Maori names being used.

Only 1 party member is Maori, and they have clarified that they will not be aligning with any Maori party.

Is the use of the Maori name for National really consistent with their own party policy? Jaybest (talk) 07:54, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The main intro lists the National Party as "New Zealand National Party Rōpū Nāhinara o Aotearoa". No it doesn't. It states the party's name in English, and then, parenthetically, states its name in Māori. This is consistent with many other Wikipedia pages on New Zealand topics, and is supported by a reference (to a National Party document). Unless National were to publicly state that they no longer wish to use this Māori name, we should continue to note it here. PatricKiwi (talk) 15:39, 26 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
