The Caruso family did sue MGM and won. MGM was ordered to withdraw all prints of the film in Italy. See page 548 of Caruso Jrs. book.

One person who didn't like the film was the widow of Caruso,who said that compared to her Enrico ,Lanza "sang like a diseased horse",or something similarly unaffectionate.

Also,note Ludwig Donath as the ex-tenor who plays Caruso's manager---compare it to his role in THE JOLSON STORY and you'll see a master character actor playing two completely different ethnic parts with total believability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.23.5.11 (talk) 20:07, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
