I don't think we should list random little parties like Međimurska stranka (esp. not typoed), what would be the point of that? I moved the link to the official complete list here. --Shallot 13:14, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- I noticed also that the official HIDRA page is outdated as far as parliamentary/non-parliamentary distinction is concerned, but I presume it will be updated shortly after the first session of the new parliament. --Shallot 13:20, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Note also that "Zagorian" is an incorrect translation for "Zagorska" because the word is Zagorje and when translated like this, it can be easily confused with Zagora, which is another, different region of the country. --Shallot 13:16, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- So what is the right translation? Morwen 13:17, Dec 20, 2003 (UTC)
- What I used -- "Zagorje's". --Shallot 13:20, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
This is what I was preparing - by electoral block.
This is a list of Croatian political parties sorted by electoral block in the 2000 elections.
- Croatian Democratic Union (Hrvatska Demokratska Zajednica)
- Social Democratic Party of Croatia (Socialdemokratska Partija Hrvatske)
- Istrian Democratic Assembly (Istarski Demokratski Sabor)
- Party of Liberal Democrats (Stranka Liberalnih Demokrata)
- Liberal Party (Liberalna Stranka)
- Croatian People's Party (Hrvatska Narodna Stranka)
- Alliance of Primorje - Gorski Kotar (Primorsko goranski savez)
- Slavonian-Baranian Croatian Party (Slavonsko-Baranjska Hrvatska Stranka
- Croatian Peasant Party (Hrvatska Seljačka stranka)
- Croatian Party of Rights (Hrvatska Stranka Prava)
- Zagorian Democratic Party (Zagorska Demokratska Stranka)
- Medimurian Party (Medimurksa Stranka)
- Croatian Party of Pensioners (Hrvatska Stranka Umirovljenika)
- Independent Democratic Serbian Party (Samostalna Demokratska Srpska Stranka)
- Croatian Social Liberal Party (Hrvatska Socialna Liberalna Stranka)
- Democratic Centre (Demokratski Centar)
- Croatian Democratic Peasants Party (Hrvatska Demokratska Seljaèka Stranka)
- Croatian Democratic Centre (Hrvatski Demokratski Centar)
- Democratic Prigorian Zagrebian Party (Democratska Prigorsko-Zagrebačka Stranka)

- I understand the intent, but that's not particularly useful when most influential parties aren't based on particular regions or electoral divisions. --Shallot 13:20, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- These lists (every country has or will get one) linked from List of political parties is designed to list all political parties: big, small and defunct. I got my information from Election world - croatia. If it is wrong or out of date (or the croatian is wrong) then fine. I don't think it needs to be a copy of the CIA's list in Politics of Croatia, however. Secretlondon 13:21, Dec 20, 2003 (UTC)
- The list in the PoC page isn't CIA's, several of us edited it since then and sorted it properly. I think you should follow the link to the hidra.hr page, to http://www.hidra.hr/strankee/501int2i.htm, and see just how pointless would a complete list be :) --Shallot 13:28, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Compare with the List of political parties in the United Kingdom. As long as they are categorised sensibly, I don't see why we shouldn't have them all. My preference would be Major (big in parliament), Medium (have representatives in Parliament) and Minor (not in parliament), and then split those up according to left/right - if needed.
- I guess if someone's willing to maintain it... the current list lacks a lacks a major/medium distinction (the general List of political parties page has that -- should we copy it here?) and includes a subset of the minor ones (those that were on coalition lists that won seats, those that were previously in parliament, etc). Splitting per orientation is inherently troublesome... --Shallot 13:40, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- I added the major/minor distinction based on whether the party can form a parliamentary club (klub zastupnika), using a rule of thumb seemed a bit too subjective. Also other administrivia like spelling and see also links. --Shallot 13:55, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Oh wait, I misread. You meant coalitions. That might be okay, but the pre-coalitions and post-election coalitions aren't a one-to-one mapping, nor were they the same in each electoral unit (see the Croatian elections 2003 page for an overview).
- And, if I understand this correctly, those minor parties were actually in coalition on parliamentary lists for the latest elections? If so, I apologize for removing them. I never saw them listed anywhere. I'll double-check my sources. --Shallot 13:23, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Well, maybe its a 'not particularly useful' ordering, but it certainly is better than having them in Croatian alphabetical order, but with the English name listed first. Morwen 13:24, Dec 20, 2003 (UTC)
- Again, I misunderstood the intent. :) --Shallot 13:28, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
The latest info I have is for the 2000 elections - and I listed them by coalition. (as above). This needs updating for the 2003 elections - my source only has the 2000 elections. I think alphabetical order is not useful - but coalition order is.Secretlondon 13:26, Dec 20, 2003 (UTC)
- Ah, yes, well, the lists that I'm talking about are for the latest, 2003 elections. --Shallot 13:28, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Also, previous coalitions are explained on the general politics page and the latest on the latest elections page. --Shallot 13:29, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Hmm. You said that your source is for 2000 elections, but now that I think about it, the HSU didn't have an elected member of parliament in 2000. Are you sure it's not more recent? They have three now. --Shallot 13:30, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)
I was getting my info from here [1]. It does say page last updated 19/12/03 - but says Zastupnički Dom: 3 january 2000. If this is wrong, and you clearly have knowledge that I don't have, then please update. As you may have noticed I am doing this for every country in the world. I am very happy to leave this page to the Croatians, but would like it if it fitted in to the rest of the pages linked to from List of political parties. Thanks. Secretlondon 13:43, Dec 20, 2003 (UTC)
We're generally using a major, minor (in parliament) and non-parliamentary split. We're trying to include major illegal parties in some countries, for example. Secretlondon 13:45, Dec 20, 2003 (UTC)
This is now great, thanks. Secretlondon 13:52, Dec 20, 2003 (UTC)

Orphaned references in List of political parties in Croatia
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of political parties in Croatia's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "expat":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 01:41, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
