"...unfortunately it has to be borne by a man."
[edit]When he was trying to dissuade King Ralph from quitting, Sir Cedric said something like "This is a duty(?) of a god(??); unfortunately, it has to be borne by a man." Can anybody remember what he actually said? I think this would also make a good quotation.
- It's "It's a god's burden to bear. Unfortunately, it has to be borne by a man." Jess Cully 18:18, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
House of Stuart claiment?
[edit]I thought the Stuart (ligetimate) line died out in the 19th century. I know ,I Know 'King Ralph' is only fiction. 30 October 2005
- There are still descendants of the Stuarts alive today. The current Stuart heir in real life is Franz, Duke of Bavaria. Jess Cully 18:19, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
King of Zambezi
[edit]Why delete what I added about Ralph meeting with the Zambezi king? It lays the foundation for Ralph's announcements to Parliament near the end of the movie. The way the plot outline appears, it's a bolt out of the blue. GBC 22:04, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Photographic accident
[edit]Just on a pedantic point, aren't the electrical connectors that seem to short-circuit in a puddle causing the tragedy actualyl designed to be waterproof? MikeMorley 14:03, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Problems
[edit]Original research, plot way too long, formatting all weird. Lots42 (talk) 09:24, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Other error
[edit]Miranda is supposed to be from London (and she certainly has a London, or at least South Eastern accent). When Ralph goes to speak to her parents, the scenery looks very unlike anywhere in London! It looks more like somewhere in the North of the UK, especially with the hills in the background; it is nowhere near as built-up as suburban London either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.210.153.106 (talk) 12:42, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
- Obviously you did not pay attention to the movie! She is from the North and come to London to study design, as explained by herself about 32 minutes into the story. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.115.56.76 (talk) 17:42, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
"Errors"
[edit]The headline errors with a couple of anachronisms and other errors is inserted again and again. First, this is a comedy, and should be taken with a grain of salt. It's not uncommon for comedies to include anachronisms on purpose. Second, it's original research, as the info does not come from any reliable source, but from a WP editor's own conclusions. Third, this kind of information belongs on IMDb, not on Wikipedia. We describe the movie and everything surrounding it, we don't nitpick errors. /Grillo (talk) 16:25, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
Charming Film
[edit]Basically an appropriate satire on British royalty with many well observed and some prophetic elements. But did Ralph´s potential bride have to come from Finland? As far as I know Finland never had a royal family. Ontologix (talk) 01:34, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
When trying to recall the ruling monarch who signed the act, he uses the Mnemonic verse of monarchs in England for this purpose. However, he gives the wrong answer since it was not William of Orange but his successor Anne who did it. --Kolya (talk) 13:21, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- Speaking of treason, Percival, Lord Graves, (John Hurt's character), is committing High treason by his plotting against 'King' Ralph. He would be liable to immediate arrest if discovered. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.149.173.52 (talk) 12:38, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
