McGrath captain of Ireland

[edit]

McGrath captain of Ireland??

I believe Andy Townsend was captain for the majority of the time McGrath played internationally. Can anyone elaborate? Thanks

You are right, McCarthy was captain in 1990 and Townsend in 1994. Will fix. --Dryazan 05:12, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Not much of a mention for one of the greatest centre halves around. Look up a page of David Beckham and see what comes up. He won 2 F.A. Cups at United and had to leave because of the crack down on alcoholism.

Who had to leave because of alcoholism, Beckham or McGrath?

From ManU website http://www.manutd.com/bio/bio.sps?iBiographyId=2394 "When Alex Ferguson arrived at United in November 1986, he ran a stricter regime than his predecessor, Ron Atkinson and in 1989 claimed that although Paul McGrath was probably one of the most gifted defenders of his generation he 'simply could not accept the way he led his life'. Absences from training sessions and alledged booze binges had tried Ferguson's patience once too often and he was sold to Aston Villa in August 1989 for £450,000."

"Back from the Brink, is due to be released in October 2006 by Random House, and advance word of the book is that it is one of the best football autobiographies ever written"

This just sounds like a publishers blurb, if its that good lets have a like to a review if not get rid.
