Merge?
[edit]Not convinced that this redirect should exist-is the really the most important use of Ffestiniog? Would Blanaeu Ffestiniog not be more appropriate?
{{help}}
- I am not sure which redirect the unsigned comment above refers to, since there appear to be no redirects to this page in 'What links here?', however, I came here from another link entirely (David Nash (artist)) and discovered this:
- Blaenau Ffestiniog is a small town in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. (Population 4,830, including Llan Ffestiniog.
- Ffestiniog is a community in Gwynedd in Wales, containing several villages, in particular the settlements of Llan Ffestiniog and Ffestiniog. It has a population of 4,830.
- (both have precisely the same coordinates and population), and
- Llan Ffestiniog also known as Ffestiniog or simply Llan is a village in Gwynedd (formerly county of Merionethshire), north Wales, lying south of Blaenau Ffestiniog.
- (no population is indicated for Llan)
- This is pretty confusing and clearly some sort of merge is in order, but I'm not familiar enough with Wales or Gwynedd to effectively pursue that. Could someone please, or if I've asked for help in the wrong place, could I be pointed in the right direction?

- I don't really see the problem here. Ffestiniog is a local government district, not a settlement (as shown by the link to Community (Wales); perhaps this could be made clearer?). The district's territory contains the settlements of Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llan Ffestiniog, and "several" other villages which are not named, and are presumably tiny. The population of the district is 4830, which is also given as the population of Blaenau Ffestiniog plus Llan Ffestiniog, presumably because no better source was available and the error involved is small. I can't see why we should merge these articles on two separate settlements and a third thing which is not a settlement. Algebraist 22:27, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- Agree with Algebraist. I suggest creating a disambiguation page for this name. Robert Skyhawk (T C B) 22:42, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

- To my mind all 3 need to stay as they are. Quite clearly both Blaenau F. (locally called "Blaenau") and Llan F. (locally called "Llan") need separate pages, and given that Ffestiniog is a defined official area, that should remain too. As said above, maybe a little more clarity is all that is needed.
