File:Iman123.jpgImam Al-Hams was a Palestinian school girl shot to death by an Israeli Army commander, only known to the public as Captain "R". Captain "R" was leading a command of some small group of Israeli Army soldiers, when they came across Imam Al-Hams in Gaza with a backpack on. Without hesitation, Captain "R" fired on the little girl's leg. It has been said that another anonymous soldier told "R" to stop, and that she was just a little girl. Ignoring the other request to prevent death, Captain "R" walked up and "emptied his magazine" in Imam Al-Hams stomach, leaving over 20 stomach piercing bullets in her small body.

After conflicting reports to the Israeli Army about the situation, An Israeli Military court decided to charge Captain "R" for filing a false army report and obstructing an Army investigation. After several months, all charges against Captain "R" were dismissed and he was returned to full duty within the Israeli Army.

The story of Captain "R" sparked controversy within Israel, many calling it immoral behaviour and mentality within the Army. However, little official condemtion from the government and the dismissal of criminal charges is just the beginning of a long violation of human rights by the IDF.
