Good work
[edit]I just wanted to compliment you on your good work on pages like Manasir, Dar al-Manasir, and Ibrahim 'Ali Salman . Our coverage of the Sudan is very lacking and it is great to have more articles. They are not yet perfectly in keeping standard Wikipedia formatting, one tip is that we do not generally put names in all caps as you do in the references section. The photos you are adding are especially impressive, but I am not clear on their copyright status. To be added to Wikipedia images must be released on a free license. The most popular such license is the GFDL. To release an image under the GFDL simply add {{GFDL}} to the image description page. A list of other possible license can be found at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. - SimonP 21:24, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC)
- Hello again, thank you for so quickly responding to my concerns about image copyright and page formatting. I am currently working on some of the articles relating to Christian Nubia, especially the Makuria article. We are very much lacking images in this area, and seeing your other contributions I was wondering if you have any pictures of Christian era sites or artifacts that you would be willing to release under the GFDL. - SimonP 13:14, July 24, 2005 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Aghurmi.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Aghurmi.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. nixie 05:08, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Masirah shiri.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Masirah shiri.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. BRossow 01:46, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Images in general
[edit]Hi, I just wanted to ask about your images in general - I notice that you added GFDL notice to Masirah shiri.JPG, then took it away, and in general some of your images say GFDL, and some don't. We want to use the tag template {{GFDL}} instead, because that helps automate the tracking of what is now over a half-million images. So, for the benefit of people fixing up tags, what is your general intent - do you want all your uploads to be GFDL, or just some of them, or what? Thanks for any input! Image Tagging for Image:Bur_palm_tree.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Bur_palm_tree.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Donkey saddle haraz.JPG)
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Donkey saddle haraz.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 22:53, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Other images from your homepage
[edit]Hi David Haberlah
Would it be OK for you to upload other images from your homepage for Wikipedia? Could you upload your images of the Beja in the Red Sea Hills, or would I be allowed to do this (under the same license as you have used so far) on the Wikimedia Commons, so that all Wikipedias can use your images? Regards, Béka 11:36, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
File:Tamim.JPG listed for deletion
[edit]An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:Tamim.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. NowCommons: File:Babur dar almanasir atram.jpg
[edit]File:Babur dar almanasir atram.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Babur dar almanasir atram.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Babur dar almanasir atram.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 21:34, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Dar al-Manasir
[edit]Hey David, Thanks for all the contribs to the Date cultivation in Dar al-Manasir article. You don't happen to have a copy of Corkill N. L. (1948): Weight Equivalent of Sudan Foods sold by Measures of Capacity. In: Sudan Notes and Records, Vol.29. pp.126–127, do you? I can't get my hands on a copy of it in Switzerland and I would like to check a fact in there for a paper. Trigaranus (talk) 19:32, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Do you have any references for the Automated Mineralogy article?
Automated mineralogy
[edit]I have requested here a move back to the uncapitalised title, as that is correct according to the very first point in the relevant guide ~ always use lowercase after the first word, and do not capitalize second and subsequent words, unless the title is a proper noun. Incidentally, it appears that when you changed to the capitalised form you did so by using a cut and paste method; i ought to point out that that is not the best method, as it loses the history of the article, which is required for copyright purposes, as i understand it. There is quite a full explanation of how to do such moves without cut and paste here. Cheers, LindsayHi 04:40, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of HyLogging Systems
[edit]A tag has been placed on HyLogging Systems, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 18:37, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
The article HyLogging Systems has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- no evidence of notability
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:07, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
License tagging for File:QEMSCAN logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:QEMSCAN logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 10:06, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Possibly unfree File:Tabaq haraz.JPG
