The article states, "Aaron Lopez, a Jewish merchant who played a significant role in the town's involvement in the slave trade." But, the citation listed does not support this claim. The footnoted source states, "he headed a booming mercantile business. Not long after, he became a key supplier of munitions to American revolutionary forces, dabbled in whaling and, shamefully, participated in the slave trade."
I bring this up because there are many hate sites claiming he made his fortune and primarily traded in Slaves although this is false. His primary business was whale oil and whale oil candles. I am not very wiki-savvy. So, instead of making a change myself, I am bringing it up here so someone who knows the wikirules better than I do can do something about it. 73.170.193.176 (talk) 06:16, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
the following unsubstantiated claim should be removed: "The U.S. refusal to support specifically Jewish immigration, however, stemmed from something else, namely antisemitism"--Exjerusalemite (talk) 17:43, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In the epigraph "Current situation" the data extends until 2010. I think it would be good if data from later years were added. Thank you. Sirslayercort (talk) 08:34, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
