Fair use rationale for Image:CTA.jpg
[edit]Image:CTA.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:55, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
"The"?
[edit]Where does the "The" in the title come from here? No copy I've seen is titled as such. Jgm (talk) 18:33, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed, the album is called "Chicago Transit Authority" (see allmusic, Discogs, the labels and spines of the release, etc.). Funkeboy (talk) 00:53, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- The cover graphic has "The" but the label doesn't, so I guess it's a judgment call. I deleted the "The" since the label traditionally takes precedence over cover art as the "official" title, but I could see someone switching it back. --Walor (talk) 22:20, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- AllMusic and Discogs, while excellent sites, all go by the side of the album. But the album text is decided by the publisher. The cover art is chosen by the band, and was their intention for the name. Also, you would never refer to the actual Chicago Transit Authority without "The" in front of it. It is an integral part of the name, and is part of why they were sued. --darkflux (talk) 1:23, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
Liberation and the 1968 democratic convention
[edit]Is the track "Liberation" about the democratic convention in Chicago in 1968 where the national guard fired on protesting students? 110.32.78.78 (talk) 13:40, 22 October 2010 (UTC)Peter Lynch
- The national guard didn't fire on protesting students at the convention. Perhaps you are thinking of Kent State. Nicmart (talk) 00:57, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
RE: Liberation and the 1968 democratic convention
[edit]Without doing any research to verify this, the soundtrack is obviously from the DNC. Go the the wikipedia article on that event; it mentions the cord chanting "the whole world's watching" for 17 minutes as the cameras rolled. The lyrics, I believe, are more about the "new generation" and the changing times as exemplified by the riots at the convention than the convention itself. One could presume the title "Liberation" refers to throwing off the old ways, the establishment, whatever. No one was fired upon at the DNC; I believe you are referring to the Kent State shootings, also well-documented on Wikipedia and all over the internet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Subitopiano (talk • contribs) 18:07, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Peter Morelli
[edit]I can't imagine why Morelli's observation about a photo of the band is worth citing. There is nothing in this entry that makes it relevant. Nicmart (talk) 01:00, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
50th anniversary remix reviews
[edit]https://www.discogs.com/release/14078088-Chicago-Chicago-Transit-Authority-50th-Anniversary-Remix
The 50th-anniversary remix is objectively horrendous, see the reviews in the discogs link. Someone should amend the reviews which are present or add something since it doesn't represent the whole picture. I get that this is all subjective since everyone's ears are different, but it's objectively a horrible remix. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:435F:9E5D:1569:473:372C:D13 (talk) 17:09, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- I have to agree wholeheartedly. The Amazon reviews reflect this too. My wife, who's not nearly as picky as I am when it comes to sound, asked to listen to some of it just out of curiosity. She threw the headphones down a few seconds in and yelled "WHAT THE F*** IS THIS?!?!" http://scattered-frog.blogspot.com (talk) 01:07, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
