@Cdh1984: Why don't you engage in the discussion instead of edit warring? All you've done so far is make a claim about who are (as if that's important) and removed properly sourced content. M.Bitton (talk) 12:39, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As an Algerian youth who is honored by the sacrifices of our ancestors I'm disgusted by the title used in this article, my ancestors fought for 132 years to keep the name ALGERIA alive, and the term used in this article was never used by the free people of Algeria that period is named The french colonization of ALGERIA (Colonized Algeria), and the term this article used was a part of the plans to brainwash the world into thinking the revolution was not real. BAHIA (talk) 15:05, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bahia, if you want to discuss a name change the best process is WP:Requested moves. That said, the term is a simple adjectival shorthand that could be seen as a contraction of "french colonization of Algeria". I doubt it will make anyone think the revolution is not real. Hello, I understand your point and you have more experience with Wikipedia articles, but I still believe that the term isn't right the title should respect the idea of "a common adjectival way to describe the location during this period of history" because it makes sense, and should respect that there's no scenario where it's ok to use a term used by the colonization to describe a colony.
Have you read our policy on WP:Article titles? I would suspect this one is unlikely to change based on its use and recognizability. What is important is the coverage in the article content, and there it does say Algeria was a colony and covers in some detail the many different resistance efforts that took place.
