The Number of the Beast

I've removed the reference to the number of the beast because I'm not convinced of it's factual accuracy and I think the fact that Pisces is Corgan's starsign has more to do with the word being used as part of the album title than any possible connection with Satan. Knight of Ashitaka

Songs Not Included

While Pisces Iscariot is a good starting point for stray tracks from this period of the band's career, The Smashing Pumpkins have always been prolific, and several b-sides and other commercially released songs from this era were not included on this compilation. These are:

I think it's a good list to have, just like the detailed outtakes section for Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, especially since all of the songs on your list were commercially released. IMHO, this list is irrelevant. Basically, it's a list of things which have nothing to do with the subject of the article! We have no source that suggests that these were ever considered for PI. If we include this list here, there would have to be an even bigger list at Judas 0.

Perhaps this list should be placed at List of Smashing Pumpkins b-sides (or similar), but not here. Oli Filth^(talk) 13:54, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Track listing cleanup

I did the best I could do for now, but it's kind of hard to decide what formatting to use, what with all the different footnotes for each song, and all the different credits for each song... according to the quality standards link, it's incorrect grammar to have two sets of brackets next to each other, like so: (from the Peel Sessions EP) (The Animals) so I suppose something will need to be done about that. It's also recommended by WP:Albums to have the 'All songs written by (Songwriter), except for where noted' tag at the top of the section, not at the bottom. My suggestion is to format the track listing as a table instead, with the track number, song name, songwriter, notes and time as respective column headings. As all useless Wikipedians say, "I would do it myself, but I don't know how". And I'm also tired.Pasta of Muppets (talk) 10:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

GAH. I just tried taking the table format from The Masterplan by Oasis, and I was JUST ABOUT to submit it, but Firefox crashed, and when I restored it again, my changes weren't saved. Could someone who is spiffy with editing re-do this, maybe I could edit it up a bit to how I had it, I don't want to do the whole damn thing again... 3rd album

I see that as far as Wikipedia is concerned, Pisces Iscariot is classified strictly as a "compilation album." While it's true in a technical sense that the songs are a compilation of studio recordings not found on either Gish or Siamese Dream recorded at different times rather than at a single session or series of sessions, Pisces is actually intended to be the band's 3rd album. The songs were intentionally chosen as tracks that go well together to make for the optimal "album" experience.

The band's official website blatantly refers to it as their 3rd studio album, while Mellon Collie is considered by the band (and website) to be their 4th album, etc. This is not unheard of-- there are other bands that release albums that are technically compilations as intended studio albums. One great example is Weezer's Death to False Metal.

Either way, I'd like to make this correction to Wikipedia by moving it from the "Compilation albums" section at the bottom to the "Studio albums" section and updating the article itself to reflect this. I fear if I do this without discussing it first I'll get a backlash of people who can't undo my edits fast enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.29.182.154 (talk) 06:50, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

I tend to agree. Pisces Iscariot seems to fit better in the list of main albums, rather than in the category of compilations because: (1) it is structured like a studio album - see commentary currently in the article on this point; (2) the album includes several songs which were never previously released; (3) none of the songs appear on their previous studio album; and (4) the band includes this album in its list of main albums on Spotify, not with its other compilations. 2019sci-fi-fan (talk) 18:15, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

You’re responding to an anonymous editor from 6 years ago. They’re...probably not going to respond to you. If you want to reorganize the numbering of their main studio albums, I’d recommend discussing at the main Smashing Pumpkins article talk page, because you’re unlikely to come across anyone to discuss with, and unlikely to get a WP:CONSENSUS in your favor, as in my experience, reliable sources generally did not treat this like a normal studio album.
