Reason: Page was given an indefinite protection in June 2014 when the subject agreed to move club, effective from July; there was disruptive editing jumping the gun. This is quite clearly not an ongoing issue. IPs can do well with updating things. The page was demoted from GA in 2019 due to lack of update and maintenance. Subject has gone from a high-profile player to an average manager, so risk of vandalism is decreased. Protecting admin has 50 edits in last two years. Gaza genocide

My suggestion is to leave out the following 2 sentences in the "German complicity" paragraph as they seem to be based on misunderstandings:

"She also highlighted police suppression of pro-Palestine protests throughout Germany[509] as evidence of state complicity.[508] Karen Wells et al. highlight how Germany has entrenched its complicity in Israel's actions by banning use of the word "genocide" in reference to Israel.[471][better source needed]"

1. In general violent protests are not allowed in Germany. As some of the first pro-Palestine protests were violent, they were sometimes forbidden by courts, if they were expected to turn violent. But that is common policy in Gemany with all subjects and not special for pro-Palestine protests.

Meanwhile, there even is a calendar concerning pro-Palestinian protests[1] with daily up to 20 protests all over Germany. Thus, there is no general police suppression of pro-Palestine protests as is suggested by the current wording.

2. The word “genocide” is not banned in reference to Israel in Germany - maybe that was a misunderstanding: What is not allowed in Germany is to call for genocide against Jews. The slogan “From the river to the sea” is seen as such call and banned. Gilbert04 (talk) 15:34, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

I can confirm that both statements are broadly true. IMO, the best resource for this discussion (in the contemporary context) is probably Steinberg: Versammlungsfreiheit nach dem 7. Oktober - NVwZ 2024, 302. Direct citation: “Die Subsumtion unter diesen Tatbestand bereitet aber auch sonst Probleme. Die Stadt Frankfurt a. Unfortunately that source seems incomplete. Germany has indeed suppressed peaceful criticism of Israel.[6] And Washington Post says "A planned photo exhibit in southwestern Germany was canceled as a result of social media posts by its curator, including one describing “genocide” in Gaza."[7] VR (Please ping on reply) 22:32, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

The Weaponization of antisemitism page hyperlinked over "often done" has many sources to draw from regarding the accusations' consistency and nature.
My main concern with the original text is that it's voiced as if it's an observation made by a Wikipedian. The benefit here is that the weaponization of antisemitism has a clearer consistency grounded outside of Wikipedia. Perhaps other ways to word this out include adding a time scale (increasingly accused since Oct. 7th) or specifying the critique (against critiques of their actions since Oct 7th).
If a lead paragraph change is necessary, there may be reason to outline Israeli motives and conditions for the genocide, including Zionism and anti-Arab racism. Ecco2kstan (talk) 23:25, 13 October 2024 (UTC)

I'm not as familiar with the Holocaust erasure claims, but I'm happy with that reworking! If that weaponization of Holocaust denial detail isn't on the weaponization of antisemitism page already, it might be a worthwhile phenomenon incorporate if there's more citations you can find. Template:Israel–Hamas war infobox

Inform readers of the distinction between the dagger symbol and the cross symbol in the infobox.

Under "Commanders and leaders" in the infobox Yahya Sinwar has a dagger next to his name, but others such as Marwan Issa have a cross next to their name. The distinction between these symbols is not immediately clear to someone reading the article, I feel that this should be explicitly noted on the page. It seems the dagger means "killed in action" (KIA) and the cross means "assassinated". I honestly don't know how I'd add a note to that effect. The correct terms should be used! Zionism is a nationalistic movement. I removed the words due to multiple reason. 1) The statement "Lu Xun’s observed lack of evidence about the translation of the Ramayana is no true" is incorrect. The reference 12, an article by Xianlin Ji, clearly says that "It is plausible to say that Sun Wukong came through the South China Sea instead of coming directly from India." 2) This whole paragraph is obviously unrelated to SunWuKong, especially when there is no evidence proving that it is inspired by Ramayana. 3) This paragraph is clearly an introduction of Ramayana's influence in asia. It should be under the page Ramayana.

Depending on the subject, the solution is either replacing Category:Year of birth missing (living people) with Category:Year of birth missing, or adding Category:Living people. It's very repetitive (even with HotCat), but I don't think a bot could reliably decide which solution to apply. Thanks for the chance to explain. I realize I should have addressed this in my initial request, and I'm sorry for not doing so. When my account was compromised, it resulted in my permissions being revoked. I want to be clear that I've never been involved in paid editing.
Since then, I've taken steps to secure my account, including enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) on my registered email, setting a strong password for my account, occasionally changing my password, and regularly checking my account activity to prevent any future issues. I understand how serious this is and am fully committed to keeping my account secure going forward.

How bad was the damage when it was compromised? What kind of edits did the attackers make? Any idea how it was compromised in the first place? Due to my health concerns, as noted here, I was inactive on the site. I gradually recovered, as mentioned here. However, in June 2022, I experienced health issues again, and this time, I didn’t inform the administrators because I had completely stopped using digital devices. As a result of this inactivity, I wasn't able to monitor my account or review my activity on the site. During this time, when my account was compromised, it was used solely for promotional editing by the attacker. Around 15 days before my account was blocked, I noticed I couldn't reset my password because the attacker had hijacked my email and removed it from my Wikipedia account. I recovered my email soon after realizing it was hacked. Upon reviewing my account activity, I found it in a dire state, used solely for promotional editing, which not only damaged Wikipedia but also hurt the trust I had built over several years of hardwork. I also noticed that the account had been inactive after the attacker created 4 articles between May 2023 and July 2023. I was exploring possible ways to regain access. Since I had previously contacted Materialscientist, I emailed them again (as noted here) in August 2023 to confirm my identity and that my email was the original registered email. However, it seemed they were not available. I then contacted the steward team, who directed me to email ca(at)wikimedia.org. After a series of emails, they video-called me, asked some questions, and eventually restored my account on 16 September 2024. Compromise stopped since i regained access in September 2024 and i took necessary steps to secure my Wikipedia account as well as email address. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 04:58, 22 October 2024 (UTC)

1) So your account was compromised from June 2022 to September 2023 (1 year 3 months)? When we take a look at those edits we should assume those are the attacker?
2) Any idea how your account got compromised? They somehow broke into your email and from there used that to password reset your Wikipedia account and got access to it that way? I guess that means that a) you were specifically targeted by UPEs since random hackers would not know or care about your Wikipedia NPP perm and b) they somehow had your email address? My account was compromised from May 2023 until it was blocked in August 2023, preventing further edits to the mainspace (actual compromise date is not known since i was inactive and under medical observation). The compromise ended when I regained access in September 2024. Any edits made between May and July 2023 were not mine but were done by the attacker. I'm unsure how they accessed my email, but I suspect it occurred after I clicked on a free mobile phone giveaway link shared in a local job offer WhatsApp group (which I have since exited). I downloaded a zip file containing a PDF, unaware that links from untrusted or unknown sources could compromise personal data. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 06:14, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
Those dates all seem to line up (stated inactivity dates, compromise dates, XTools activity graph). As long as no UPE-like behavior is found outside the specified compromise dates (contribs link, deleted contribs link, page curation log), and no poor reviewing is found, I think we should consider re-granting NPP. I'd like to get this right to delete unnecessary redirects (i.e. move pages over existing single revision redirects regardless of target). Additionally, I would also like to try to harmonize some pages of Spanish municipalities with the name of the country and the province (when necessary) instead of other subnational units (such as comarca). Moreover if a double denomination exists in some cases, I shall use the slash with spaces in between to enhance visual effect of different linguistic nomenclatures. There are a few tools you can install, like Wikipedia:Twinkle to make this easier, and automatically warn vandals too. I'd be happy to grant you PCR once you've gained some experience with these tools. Hello, I often review recent changes and find myself looking at a pending revision that is clearly acceptable per policies but am unable to accept it. (Trying this again because one of my scripts broke the template)

I have been reverting vandalism and patrolling recent changes for over a month now. The last time my request was declined, I simply hadn't been patrolling for a month at that point, and @Fastily had no other objections. I have consistently warned all vandals I reverted and reported many to AIV. I believe I'm ready to have rollback now. Also note that I am a pending changes reviewer. I see that you are failing to consistently warn editors when you revert their edits (e.g. 1, 2, 3). Why? It's important to leave a notification for every revert you make (especially when reverting good faith edits). Are you aware of tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet which make this extremely easy? -Fastily 23:53, 17 October 2024 (UTC)

1. Completely forgot that there is a warning template for NOTFORUM. The last time I used that warning was all the way on Sept 13 [20] which is more than a month ago. Completely skipped my mind.
2. I have no explanation on this one; I probably just forgot.
3. No explanation either.
The earlier failures seem to be one off mistakes I made that happen to be close together, but the revert that happened just today is definitely very unfortunate for me not to warn. The sea of reverts I've made mostly have warnings other than the above, so I don't exactly know how I managed to forget to warn at all. I'll make sure this doesn't happen again. Please ensure that you are always leaving warnings. I can't stress enough the importance of not biting the newcomers; if you find yourself reverting good faith edits, then it's especially important to notify the editor. If you don't want to leave a template warning, that's completely fine, but you do need to leave a talk page message explaining why you reverted the edit. Moving forward, could you please make a promise to leave warnings/notifications for every revert? -Fastily 21:04, 19 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi! I've been RC patrolling for a month combined and have the needed mainspace edits.

I always warn users when reverting their edits, either with the default warning template or a custom one if the situation is unique.

I think I understand the policies here, as all of my reports to WP:AIV, WP:RPP and WP:UAA have resulted in action.

I would like Rollback because using more advanced tools like Huggle would make my RC patrolling easier.

I have been policing many pages and have reverted many vandalism by IPs and disruptive editors and added warnings on talk pages of the users. I have done this for a while now. I have also reported on ANI about vandalism. Rollback rights will make it more easier to help with vandalism and I am ready to accept this role. RangersRus (talk) 16:37, 22 October 2024 (UTC)

 Not done I reviewed your contributions and found little to no recent anti-vandalism work. If you're still interested in this tool then please spend at least a month actively patrolling RecentChanges (Twinkle & Ultraviolet can help with that) before reapplying.  Not done I see you resumed editing about 10 days ago, after a 4 year hiatus. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd like to see you spend at least a month re-familiarizing yourself with Wikipedia before assigning you advanced permissions. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits (I recommend using tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet which makes this extremely easy). Fair enough. I have been occasionally editing as a dynamic IP user during this time from both home and work, but I can appreciate the concern nonetheless. Life happens!
Would you mind flagging when I have not warned other editors of reverts? I try to make a habit of this and often use the Twinkle 'editing test' template first as it's a bit nicer at assuming good faith than the others.

Thank you. I actually self reverted number 1 because it was Nazi Germany in that period. Number 2 about the subject being a builder was being constantly added by different IPs, but point taken. I won't take up any more of your time. OXYLYPSE (talk) 06:58, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
